the sunrise in my eyes and the past yeah it seems gone
whether it's a day of sun or clouds yeah i don't mind
the past days have led me through years to this point
now i will define my days
not by my failures but by the way
this world has shown me a great piece of myself and now i'll live for everyday
with all of my scars i have learned to fight
for every hit i simply learned to stand up taller
to stand up taller
now i will define my day not by my failures but by the way
this world has shown me a great piece of myself and now i'll live for everyday
we find ourselves in the places we never thought we would
we find true meaning, it's here we shall grow
we never thought we would
we are the definition of our futures
now i will define my day not by my failures but by the way
this world has shown me a great piece of myself and now i'll live for everyday.

There is something haunting about the family having zero clue about WW2 in its entirety. I remember learning about them and wondering and I still wonder now how many are still in the wilderness, driven there by atrocities or not. Many find being alone to be fear inducing. But they left and isolated out of fear to begin with. This music is just the tip of the iceberg for how haunting and emotional the situation is. It does its job as well as possible, though. This Chicago (where else?) post-rock group builds wafting atmospheric ambient out of slow drums and a shimmering churn of droning guitars. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 30, 2024
Ten gorgeous compositions from Iceland’s Gísli Gunnarsson that ride the line between ambient & modern classical. Breathtaking. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 25, 2023
