so we turned to notice
and our hearts were filled with love, with elation
and there we stood in the sight of something so beautiful
to watch growth before,
before it was before our eyes,
yeah
it was the morning
and we cast our thoughts upon the rays over the hills
light pierced everything and we found something here
not sure of what it was...
but it was the morning
the beginning of something so new...
and nothing else mattered.
There is something haunting about the family having zero clue about WW2 in its entirety. I remember learning about them and wondering and I still wonder now how many are still in the wilderness, driven there by atrocities or not. Many find being alone to be fear inducing. But they left and isolated out of fear to begin with. This music is just the tip of the iceberg for how haunting and emotional the situation is. It does its job as well as possible, though. This Chicago (where else?) post-rock group builds wafting atmospheric ambient out of slow drums and a shimmering churn of droning guitars. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 30, 2024
Ten gorgeous compositions from Iceland’s Gísli Gunnarsson that ride the line between ambient & modern classical. Breathtaking. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 25, 2023
